What makes a competent sex therapist?

These competencies were developed by the Board of Examiners in Sex Therapy and Counselling of Ontario (Winterton et al., 2020). To date, they are the only published competencies for sex therapists.

When I became an AASECT Certified Sex Supervisor, I was surprised that there were no core competencies to help me guide my supervisees. It wasn't until 2020 that BESTCO (the Canadian version of AASECT) formalized a set of competencies.

This digital download is based on the BESTCO competencies and expanded and organized into an easy-to-follow checklist for supervisors and supervisees. I'm excited to share this tool with you!
